MCGRATH RENTCORP DATA BREACH CLASS ACTION

According to a sample notice letter provided to the California Attorney General, on July 17, 2021, McGrath RentCorp discovered unauthorized activity on its network by an unknown actor. McGrath RentCorp later discovered that the unknown actor accessed sensitive personal, health, and financial data stored on McGrath RentCorp’s network. Based on the sample notice letter provided to the California Attorney General, it appears McGrath RentCorp did not start notifying victims of the data breach until December 15, 2021.

In the sample data breach notice provided to California Attorney General, McGrath RentCorp states that the following data was impacted by the breach:

• names,
• addresses,
• dates of birth,
• Social Security or individual tax identification numbers,
• driver’s license or other government issued identification card numbers,
• health-related information,
• health insurance policy or member numbers,
• financial account information, and
• fingerprints
