Jack Chestnut is a senior partner and founder of Chestnut Cambronne. For nearly 50 years he has been active in the areas of class action litigation, civil litigation, and in representing the needs of both local and international businesses. Prior to his practice of law, Jack served as a midshipman in the United State Navy, obtained the rank of Lieutenant, and additionally served in the United States Naval Reserve. He has also been appointed Special Assistant Attorney General, and Assistant Attorney General, serving under four different Attorney Generals for the State of Minnesota. Jack was the Campaign Manager for Walter F. Mondale’s successful campaign for Attorney General of the State of Minnesota. He was also the Campaign Manager for Hubert H. Humphrey’s successful campaign for the United States Senate and for Mr. Humphrey’s campaign for President of the United States.

Jack is a current member of the Ramsey County, Hennepin County, and Minnesota Bar Associations, and a member of the Minnesota and American Trial Lawyers Associations. He also serves as a Director of the National Association of Shareholder and Consumer Attorneys and as a Treasurer of the Institute of Law and Economic Policy. Jack is currently involved in a number of non-profit organizations including the Trustees Society of the University of Minnesota Foundation and the Minneapolis Heart Institute, an organization of which he is one of the founders.

Most recently, Jack served as a lead counsel in In re UnitedHealth Group, Inc. Shareholder Derivative Litigation, where he and his litigation team secured a $900 million settlement on behalf of shareholders in the largest stock backdating case to date.
